Description

SHARPS Rifle, US SHOT 1859 (1141)

Sharps was a sniper rifle, very precise compared to other rifles of that time, mainly due to the high shooting rhythm and back load mechanism and high quality production.

It was used during and after the American Civil War (1861-1865). Production was expensive, so only 11,000 copies of the 1859 model were produced. The rifle became an icon of the Old West due to its use in several films and books.
